CEAS is pleased to announce competitions for the following grant categories.
All applications are due by Friday, October 25, 2024, and should be sent directly to David Dettmann at dettmann@upenn.edu. Awards, decided by the CEAS Executive Committee, are expected to be announced in November.
CEAS will award grants up to $1000 to Penn faculty and students to provide partial funding for conferences on topics related to East Asia. Funding cannot be used for food or catering. The conference must take place at Penn or in Philadelphia. See here for more information.
CEAS Faculty Conference Grant Application
CEAS will award grants in amounts of up to $1000 each to assist members of the University of Pennsylvania faculty to attend an East Asia-related academic or professional conference. All faculty members who are teaching or researching on East Asia are eligible to apply. The grant can be used for university approved travel, per diem, lodging, registration fees and other related expenses.
CEAS Faculty Research Grant Application
CEAS will award grants in amounts of up to $3,000 for faculty research travel related to East Asia. All faculty members who are teaching or researching on East Asia are eligible to apply. The grant can be used for university approved travel, per diem, research equipment, digital copies and other related expenses.
CEAS Language Lecturer Conference Grant Application
CEAS will award grants in amounts of up to $1000 each to assist language lecturers of Chinese and Japanese, and Korean* at the University of Pennsylvania with the cost of attending a conference related to their work. * Korean language lecturers should also apply for Language Lecturer Professional Development Grants through the James Joo-Jin Kim Center for Korean Studies.
CEAS Graduate Student Conference Grant Application
CEAS will award grants in amounts of up to $1000 each for graduate student conference travel. All Penn graduate students focused on researching East Asia are eligible to apply. The grant can be used for university approved travel, per diem, conference registration and other related expenses.
CEAS Student Research Grant Application
CEAS will award grants in amounts of up to $2,000 for dissertation/thesis research travel related to East Asia. All students with a research focus on East Asia are eligible to apply. The grant can be used for university approved travel, per diem, research equipment, digital copies and other related expenses.
