Katsuya Shirai is Chief Curator of Archaeology of the Curatorial Research Department at the Tokyo National Museum. Mr. Shirai received a master’s degree from the University of Tokyo in Archaeology, and he has been working at the Tokyo National Museum since 1996. His main research specialty is the archaeology of the Korean Peninsula. His recent research includes the trading interactions in East Asia during the Yayoi and Kofun periods, as well as the interactions between the Japanese and foreign museums in their early years.
