Film screening of "At the Edge of the Bazaar", a 2014 Uyghur film directed by Dilmurat Tohti and Abdukadir Upur that focuses on Uyghur craftsman outside of a market in the southern Tarim Basin.

As their Uyghur culture is increasingly repressed, student filmmakers Dilmurat Tohti and Abdukadir Upur share a glimpse of rural craftsmen who use centuries-old techniques to transform raw materials like reeds and wood into fine merchandise sold at the local weekly market.

Film presented with new subtitles by Darren Byler (University of British Columbia) and Qanat Wolf, in conversation with David Dettmann (CEAS)
