Event
Talk synopsis: "Tsinghua University Professor of Contemporary Chinese Literature Wang Hui offers a window into contemporary pan-Asianism and the legacy of the Chinese Revolution. Like the late Japanese Sinologist Takeuchi Yoshimi, Wang invokes the Chinese Revolution. But while Takeuchi drew on the Chinese Revolution to criticize pro-West narratives of Japan, Wang returns to the Chinese Revolution, when the Chinese state itself gains legitimacy from this same revolution."
Viren Murthy is Professor of History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
